Imaginary Friends is a growing collection of ceramic totems, each one a bubble gum of meanings.

Like a totem that blends imaginations and identities, every sculpture holds a philosophy written in fragments, in metaphors, in overlapping shapes that make interculturality the true protagonist of the work. Fun facts, life philosophy, and instinctive thoughts fold into each figure, giving form to the imaginary companions that shape who we become.

The collection is the result of a friendship between two artists.

IAMPIÔ (Emma Piau), and Laura Etcheverry share a passion for ceramics and four hands turning two dimensional drawings into three dimensional totems. Each artist holds a distinct role in forging every piece, so that no sculpture in the series could exist through one pair of hands alone.

Each totem in Imaginary Friends carries its own name and its own place in the series, numbered as the collection grows toward ten. Carmen opened the series, followed by Lise, each one revealing a new facet of the same shared language.

The collection is being made at Art Studio La Mesa, an artist residency in Barcelona that nurtures imagination and gives the two artists a shared space to work side by side.
